Fiano, by Briar Ridge

Regular price £26.50

The best thing about Fiano is its versatility. Depending on where its grown and how its produced, you can get a real variation of flavours and styles. This one from Briar Ridge is a fantastic example.

The winemakers intentionally keep the yields low to create intense flavours in the grapes, and then allow to some pre-fermentation soaking on the skins to bring these to the forefront. They say nashi pear, ginger, honeysuckle and orange blossom. That's followed by maturation in oak and time on the lees for added richness and texture.

The wild flavours and silky mouthfeel makes it super interesting and delicious. It’s also a limited edition release, so enjoy it while you can!

Why we chose it?

The complexity and type of flavours is different to anything we've ever had before. A real Wildcase favourite.

Fiano

A native Italian grape almost lost to the world 50 years ago. Now very much on the comeback trail, being smartly selected in new territories outside Southern Italy with optimal growing conditions. Perfect drunk on its own, with pre-dinner snacks, or with mild soft cheeses.

Briar Ridge

A winemaking approach that is self described as classically radical. Traditional, old vines, yet an innovative approach to the varieties used. And a minimal intervention where possible, allowing the grapes to flourish in the perfect soil and climate conditions.

Hunter Valley

Australia's oldest wine region can experience challenging growing conditions - clouds, wind and summer rain. But these also moderate the summer heat. Small areas such as Briar Ridge can have excellent micro climates, and single vineyard production helps capture quality.
