Dolcetto d'alba, by Borgogno Serio e Battista

Regular price £18.00

Piedmont, home of famed wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco and arguably one of the best regions in the world for producing quality wines. But you may not be as familiar with Piedmont wines made from the Dolcetto grape in Alba? These wines which are completely different from their Nebbiolo neighbours, but no less charming.

Dolcetto grapes produces wines which are much more fruit focussed. This cracker from Borgogno Serio and Battista (who also produce great Barolo's too) is made in stainless steel VATs to preserve the fruitiness, and comes with intense flavours of cherries, plums and violet. As a less popular variety in an established region with first class winemakers, Dolcetto's often provide fantastic value for money in comparison. This one offers just that, and is so easy to drink.

Why we chose it?

We love an underdog story, and this is a wine that deserves its recognition next to its bigger brothers. And it won't smash your wallet.

Dolcetto

An easy drinking, fruity wine bursting with flavour and personality. The producer picks the grapes early to give freshness. Not for ageing like a Barolo, drink within 3 years. Great during the week with simple, tasty Italian food - fresh pasta with cherry tomatoes, or mushroom pizza. You might just do the bottle.
