Seasalter, by Groote Post

Regular price £20.00

A white wine full of flavour that showcases the unique coastal area of Darling Hills.

As the name suggests, there’s a distinct salinity to this wine - the vines are planted directly in the face of icy Atlantic winds, which carry salt into the vineyards, coating the grapes.

The cool evenings produce grapes with great flavour intensity, and the balance of fresh tropical fruits with a salty backdrop is spot on.

Why we choose it?

A very interesting wine from a South African region growing in importance. A real crowd pleaser.

Seasalter

A wine that combines the best elements of several classic styles, capped with a modern edge. Light oak maturation of a white Bordeaux; tropical flavours of a Marlborough Sauvignon; and the refreshing acidity and mineral finish of a Sancerre. All made possible by the unique location - warm sunny days, cool nights, with ferocious sea breezes.
Peter and Nick Pentz, family winemakers, are committed to producing exceptional wines that showcase Darling Hills' unique terroir

Groote Post

A third generation family winemaking business, and the approach is classical in many ways - this is a Bordeaux style white blend after all. The focus is on producing grapes that are bursting with flavour, and bring out the best of the superb conditions. An extended ripening period produces grapes with intense tropical flavours, without compromising on freshness.
The Darling hills wine region benefits from the cooling Atlantic ocean to produce red and white wines with good acidity and intense flavours.

Darling Hills

Darling Hills is located just North of Cape Town, close to the Atlantic Ocean on the Western Cape of South Africa. The area produces quality red and white wines with its beneficial coastal location and low yields. The area also boasts a growing number of modern wineries, with sustainability at the core of their offerings, driven by dry farmed vineyards with zero irrigation.
