Corteza Rouge, by Domaine La Lauzeta

Regular price £23.00

A cracking red wine from the Saint-Chinian region of the Languedoc, that blends Syrah, Carignan and Grenache grape varieties. It's rich, bold, and full of ripe red fruit and herbal flavours.

The focus of the Domaine La Lauzeta estate is to produce high quality, small batch wine - just 7,000 bottles of their 'Corteza Rouge' were produced. Grape growing and production is organic, with the utmost care taken to protect the long term health of the soil.

This is a wine best enjoyed with food - good acidity, tannins and fruit flavours that will pair really well with rich meats like lamb, sausage or duck.

Why we chose it?

Many producers in the Languedoc are leading the way for organic wine production, delivering quality wines combined with long term environmental benefits.

The Garibaldi is a deep ruby colour
The wine...

Corteza

A classic old world style of red wine in many ways - richness, a deep ruby colour, and tannins that provide structure. But there are modern elements in the winemaking that shine through too - freshness from the generous acidity, ripe red fruits, and gorgeous herbal notes that add a depth of flavour. This wine will go beautifully with a steak, or a chorizo pizza, and everything in between.
Domaine La Lauzeta in Saint-Chinian are organically certified, producing quality wines
The producer...

La Lauzeta

A modern estate producer that is organically certified - using pheromones and even a local shepherd to promote long term vineyard health. Careful consideration is taken at every step to produce quality wine. Grape yields are kept low, and the blend of grapes closely judged. A demonstration of how a minimal intervention approach does not equate to a lack of effort.

The region...

Languedoc-Roussillon

The wider Languedoc-Roussillon region (the largest wine area in France) has become a leader in organic viticulture. The region is naturally dry and low risk to many diseases. But it has also become popular with younger, modern winemakers, who are freer to experiment due to less regional regulation. A region that is producing increasingly eye opening wines.
