Agiorgitiko, by Nikolaou Estate

Regular price £23.00

An award winning, organic red wine made with Agiorgitiko, an underrated local Greek grape that is starting to gain wider prominence for its power and sophistication.

This top quality red wine is deep in colour, with a rich body, and lovely smooth tannins that feel a little luxurious. Despite coming from a relatively warm region, it still retains a lovely level of acidity which adds freshness.

It’s full of ripe cherry and blackberry flavours, and a hint of vanilla from the light oak ageing. Delicious and great value!

Estate Nikolaou

The Nikolaou winery is a small family run affair, just 12 hectares in total, of which 3 are dedicated to growing Agiorgitiko grapes, which thrive in this region. All decisions taken in the vineyard and winery are made with the quality of the final wine in mind - organic farming, low yields, and a minimal intervention approach. Their wines are beautifully crafted, intriguing and full of personality.
Nikolaou Estate is an organic wine producer in Nemea, in the Pelopennese region of Greece. A rising star wine producer excelling in local indigenous grape varieties.
The region...

Nemea

Nemea is located in the wider Peloponnese region of mainland Greece, West of Athens. The region is famous for Agiorgitiko wines, which range in style, depending on the exact growing conditions. The terrain is hilly, but varied. Riper fruit flavours and even sweet wines can be achieved from the flatter areas. Whilst the higher vineyards have excelled in producing fresher more restrained styles.
