Zweigelt rose, by Christina Netzl

Regular price £21.00

This is a vibrant coloured, natural rose wine, made using 100% Zweigelt grapes. Its got bags of flavour and personality, perfect for enjoying all year round.

The grape skins were left with the pressed juice for just a couple of hours, giving a lovely bright colour to the wine. Its a lovely and refreshing with citrus and berries flavours. But don't let anyone tell you this can only be drunk in the summer. Its got added floral notes for complexity, and a fairly rich texture from being left on its lees for 4 weeks.

Why we chose it?

An interesting grape made into a super interesting and natural wine by a forward thinking wine producer. A great example of what rose wine can be.

Zweigelt is a relatively modern grape, made by intentionally crossing Blaufrankisch with St Laurent, two Austrian natives. The grapes for this wine have been handled with the utmost care - organically farmed, and kept clear of further ingredients. Its also unfiltered, giving a final wine that's natural, fresh, and really flavoursome. Great on its own or with light dishes. Drink it inside or out!

Christina Netzl grew up on a wine producing farm and fell in love with the vines from an early age. Having gone on to study oenology, Christina became more familiar with organic small batch production, becoming focussed on wine production methods that harnessed natural conditions. Their winery now produces a range of small batch organic and natural wines of high quality that speak of the Austrian land.

Carnuntum

Carnuntum is a small 'DAC' wine region, located in the wider Niederosterreich DAC in Austria. Its position, sandwiched between the Danube and Lake Neusiedl, gives a long growing season. The grapes as a result can fully ripen nice and slowly, creating more intense flavours. Carnuntum is also positioned right between Vienna and Bratislava, making it a fantastically accessible area to visit.
